Ironing Board Sleeve

Ironing board sleeves are used to help the clothes stay neat, smooth and tidy on the ironing board. The Ironing board sleeves look neat and tidy and come in many different colours and styles.

Even though an ironing board base and legs are hard wearing the sleeves are not. Ironing board sleeves need to be changed regularly, when they are starting to look scruffy and un neat. If the sleeve is starting to look wore and unsightly it is time for a change. They are relatively cheap so it is worth buying in bulk, that way there is always one to replace the old one.

When shopping for an ironing board sleeve, remember your budget and what style your house is, you can also if desired get interchangeable ones to swop and change when the other needs washing.

When attaching the ironing board sleeve to the ironing board there are two different ways of doing it:

The first is fastenings which can be either elastic or a drawstring, both are effective so the choice is down to the individual. Both the drawstring and elastic can be altered fro a secure fit so it will fit most sized boards.

The second choice is called a backing which is a devise that backs on to the board giving it a slight padding and a smoother surface.

Ironing board sleeves are easy to find in stores and online as many household users use them, three main types that are bought regularly are:

  1. Metallic Covers: A sleeve that contains metal helps the ironing board heat quicker as the heat rises up in to the clothes making them easier to iron.
  2. Cotton Covers: A cotton sleeve is the most popular as it is the cheapest and easiest to find in high street shops.
  3. Silicon Impregnated Covers: These sleeves are more commonly used for industrial purposes.
