What is the history of Ironing boards?

An ironing board is a large household utility that is made from a flat board or metal sheet covered in a heat-resistant padding used to help decrease the time it takes to iron, and improve the safety of using an iron.

The most common ironing boards fold flat and have hinged collapsible legs. This allows the board to be moved, and placed into an ironing board cupboard.
